CPB- MLM irked by NC election

Published on Jan 02 2008 // Main News

Kathmandu, January 1: Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxists-Leninists-Maoists) has termed the election for National Council held on Monday in the country as Bhutan's dramatic system.

CPB-MLM has accused Druk regime of hatching plots by issuing No Objection Certificate (NOC) certificate. "An election that has indirectly barred many people from their rights to caste vote in the name of issuing NOC certificate is another drama", said Vikalp, general secretary of the party. Vikalp has urged Bhutanese people to boycott such elections, quoted Nepal FM 91.8.

An estimated one hundred thousand Bhutanese were barred from casting vote on Monday's election. Bhutanese authorities have barred those having no NOC certificate or who were ignored by the authorities for issuing the identity cards.

The Central Committee meeting of CPB-MLM held at an undisclosed location on Monday expressed deep concern over Bhutan's hoodwinking approach by holding elections after barring thousands of people from casting vote.

Nepal FM has further quoted a press statement issued by Vikalp on Tuesday as having urged support from international communities towards Bhutan's false allegation upon innocent civilians from southern and eastern region of the country.

The state-owned judiciary court in Samtse district of Bhutan had recently declared jail term ranging from 5-9 years to 30 civilians clamping accusations that they were associated with CPB-MLM.

Meanwhile, quoting a high level government source, Druk National Congress led by Thinley Penjore has stated that one hundred and 20 thousands Bhutanese were denied from receiving NOC certificate and identity cards. Bhutan News Service
