DNC launches pamphleteering inside Bhutan

Kathmandu, July 18: Thinley Penjore led Druk National Congress has launched poster and pamphleteering program on Wednesday morning inside Bhutan coinciding the auspicious day of the 'Anniversary of Lord Buddha turning the Wheel of the Dharma' for the first time. 

General Secretary of the DNC Narad Adhikari said the pamphleteering program has been launched successfully in the locations of Semtokha in Thimphu, Kanglung in Trashigang, Chamkhar town in Bumthang, Drametse in Mongar and Gomdar in Samdrup Jongkhar.

Adhikari further said that the pamphlet has strongly demanded for nullification of candidates' criterion for graduation to qualify for contesting in the parliamentarian election and to provide adequate opportunities for the capable politicians to serve the people by delimiting the age of retirement by removing the age bar of sixty-five.

The poster papers has also called for the people to unite and understand ground reality of the process of democratization that has begun with the exercise of farce and hollow draft constitution, trial election and the ensuing mock elections.

DNC has claimed the election commission has drastically failed to educate the people on the values of voting rights and fair opportunities for equal participation.

Adhikari further informed the BNS that the DNC supporters in Bhutan declared this program to awaken the common people from the slumber of regime initiated charm of bringing mockery democracy in Bhutan.

“The Party reiterates its commitment for the establishment of inclusive, accountable, transparent and vibrant democracy by preserving the institution of monarchy as a symbol of unity and sacred guardian of the constitution”, said Adhikari. Bhutan News Service
