NC Chairman given Dakyen (Politics)

Thimphu, June 12: King Jigme Khesar conferred Dakyen to the Chairperson of the National Council Namgay Penjore at a function on Wednesday.

Penjore also received orange scarf and Patang from the king. He was elected to the post of Chairperson of the council on April 29.

A 1991 commerce graduate from Sherubtse, Penjore is from Goenshari geog in Punakha. He also has received Masters in Business Administration from Birla Institute in Bangalore.

A businessman by profession associated with Tashi Group of Companies, he also had served in the government as officer on special duty for the Penden Cement Authority Limited and General Manager of the Bhutan Power Corporation Limited and the Forestry Development Corporation Limited.

King on the occasion expressed hope that members of the National Council would help build a strong and vibrant democracy. Bhutan News Service
