Beldangi-II, July 3: All Bhutan Students Union- Revolutionary (ABSU-R) and family of those killed at police firing in Beldangi incident last month have said that the probe committee has delayed its work to bring out the report in the stipulated time.

In a joint press release issued on Tuesday, ABSU-R and family members of those killed at the firing have said that the report of the incident is not yet made public though the stipulated has lapsed.

“The funeral processing was done since we were assured that the probe committee would investigate the whole incident and work towards providing compensation to the lost lives thereby punishing the guilty”, the release reads, adding that no major initiatives have been carried on so far.

“If the committee cannot step on to finalizing its work soon then we would be forced to hit the streets against the committee’s delaying tactics”, the release further reads.

Narapati Dhungel, 17 of Beldangi-II and Purna Bahadur Tamang, 20 of Beldangi-II extension died at police firing on May 27 and 28 following controversial interview of Hari Adhikari Bangale with Pathivara FM.

Later, a probe committee was formed under the leadership of assistant Chief District Officer (CDO) Murari Prasad Poudel and was given 15 days to summit the report. However, the committee hasn’t yet released the report. Bhutan News Service/Puspa Adhikari
